What do donation statuses mean on the Donations page?
Summary: Donations on the Donations page may show different statuses as they move through processing and disbursement. A donation may be Pending, Available, Sent, Refunded, Cancelled, or Failed.
When a donor gives through Every.org, the donation goes through a few steps before your nonprofit receives the funds.
You can see each donation’s status on the Donations page of your nonprofit admin dashboard.
Donation statuses appear on the Donations page of your nonprofit admin dashboard.
These statuses explain the donation’s current stage. They do not always mean the funds have reached your nonprofit yet.

Donation statuses
| Status | What it means | What should I do? |
| (P)ending | The donation has been submitted, but it has not finished processing yet. This may include payment checks or waiting for the payment method to clear. | No action is needed yet. Some payment methods take longer than others. |
| (A)vailable | The donation has cleared processing and is ready to be sent to your nonprofit. | No action is needed. The funds will be included in the next disbursement cycle. |
| (S)ent | The donation has been disbursed through your nonprofit’s current disbursement method. This does not always mean the funds have already arrived. | Check your disbursement method and allow time for the funds to arrive. Timing may vary depending on whether your nonprofit receives funds through Stripe, PayPal Grants, or For Good, Inc. |
| (R)efunded | The donation was processed, but the funds were returned to the donor. | No action is needed. |
| (C)ancelled | The donation was cancelled before it was completed. This often happens with stock or DAF pledges if the donor decides to give another way, donates directly to your nonprofit, or changes their mind. | No action is needed. |
| (F)ailed | The donation could not be processed. This can happen for different reasons, such as a payment issue or a failed transaction. | No action is usually needed. Failed donations are not disbursed unless the donor completes a new successful donation. Failure details are not shown in the dashboard, and Every.org may not always have more details about why the payment failed. |
Why are some donations pending?
Some payment methods take longer to process than others.
For example:
- Credit and debit card donations typically process within a few minutes.
- Bank/ACH donations may take 7–10 business days to process and settle.
Once a donation clears processing, its status will automatically update. For more information, see: How long does it take for donations to process?
What about stock and DAF donations?
Stock and DAF donations take longer to process than card donations because they require steps outside of Every.org. These donations start as donation pledges on Every.org but must be completed as transfers through the donor's broker, DAF provider, or other financial institution.
Until the donation is completed and processed, it will have a Pending status on the Donations page. If the donor does not complete the transfer, decides to give another way, donates directly to your nonprofit, or changes their mind, the donation may later show as Cancelled or Failed.
No action is usually needed from your nonprofit while a stock or DAF donation is pending. Incomplete stock and DAF donations automatically expire within 3-4 weeks. During that time, we send periodic reminder emails to prompt the donor to complete their gift.
What does “Sent” mean?
A Sent status means the donation has been disbursed. It does not always mean the funds have already reached your nonprofit.
The time it takes to receive the funds varies depending on the disbursement method:
- Stripe: weekly
- PayPal Grants: every 4–5 weeks
- ForGood. Inc: every 4–6 weeks
You can check the disbursement method and other information for a Sent donation by clicking its Details button.
Click Details to view more information about a donation.
The donation details view shows the disbursement method and other information used for a Sent donation.
What happens if a donation does not complete?
Sometimes a donation does not finish processing. If this happens, the donation will show as Cancelled or Failed on the Donations page.
- A Cancelled donation means the donation was cancelled by the donor. This may happen if the donor decides not to complete the donation or chooses to give another way.
- A Failed donation means the donation was not completed or could not be processed. This may happen because of a payment issue or another transaction problem.
Cancelled and failed donations are not disbursed to your nonprofit. If the donor still wants to give, they will need to complete a new successful donation.
No action is usually needed from your nonprofit. Failure details are not shown in the dashboard, and Every.org may not always have more details about why the payment failed.
Where can I see disbursement details?

Use the Disbursements drop-down menu on the Donations page to view funds that have been disbursed.
The separate Disbursements page shows your nonprofit’s current disbursement method. However, if your nonprofit has started or completed the Stripe connection process, that status will also appear on the Disbursements page. For more information, see Disbursements Overview.
How can my nonprofit receive funds sooner?
The best way to receive funds faster is to securely connect your nonprofit’s bank account through Stripe.
Stripe disbursements are made weekly.
To connect a bank account:
- Go to your Every.org nonprofit admin dashboard.
- Open the Disbursements page.
- Click Add bank.
- Follow the prompts to connect your bank account through Stripe.
Click Add bank on the Disbursements page to connect your nonprofit’s bank account through Stripe.
