How do I donate from my IRA?
Important: Start your IRA donation through Every.org before asking your IRA provider to send a check. After you finish the donation flow, we'll share the instructions to give to your IRA provider. This ensures that Every.org has the information needed to identify your check and complete your donation.
To start your IRA donation:
- Visit Every.org and find the nonprofit that you'd like to support. You do not need to sign in to or create an Every.org account to make a donation.
- Select Donate.
- Choose IRA as your donation method.
- Enter the amount you want to donate.
- Complete the remaining steps in the donation flow.
- Review and save the instructions, which will be emailed to you.
- Contact your IRA provider and tell them you’d like to make a QCD gift by check, and share the instructions from Every.org.

What happens after I start an IRA donation?
Your IRA provider will need to send the funds directly to Every.org, a U.S. 501(c)(3) public charity. Every.org then provides an unrestricted grant to the nonprofit you selected.
You must contact your IRA provider separately and ask them to send the check using the instructions Every.org provided.
Please make sure both the check and envelope are addressed to Every.org, not the nonprofit you are supporting. Otherwise, we will not be able to process the donation.
You can expect to receive:
- A confirmation email with instructions when you first start the donation
- A reminder email after 7 days if we have not received the funds
- Another reminder email after 14 days if we have not received the funds
- An email acknowledgment when we have received and completed the donation
Who can make a gift from an IRA?
Generally, you must be age 70½ or older at the time of the distribution to make a gift from an IRA.
A QCD allows an eligible donor to transfer money directly from an eligible IRA to a qualified charitable organization. QCDs may be excluded from taxable income and may also count toward a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD), if applicable.
Every.org does not determine whether your retirement account or individual circumstances qualify for a QCD, and we are unable to provide legal or tax advice. Please contact your IRA provider, financial advisor, or tax professional if you have questions about your eligibility or broader tax questions.
How long does an IRA donation take?
The total time depends largely on how long your IRA provider takes to issue and mail the check.
Because Every.org does not control IRA-provider processing or mailing times, we cannot provide an estimate for that part of the process.
Once Every.org receives the check, we generally identify and process the donation within 48 business hours, as long as the check contains enough information for us to match it to the correct donation.
If you have confirmed that your IRA provider sent the check and you have not heard from Every.org within two weeks of the date the check was sent, contact Every.org Support.
Are there fees for IRA donations?
Every.org does not charge a fee for donations from an IRA. You can learn more about fees at every.org/pricing.
Can I make an anonymous IRA donation?
Yes. You can choose to make your IRA donation anonymously so the nonprofit recipient does not receive your contact information. Follow the steps in the Every.org donation flow, and click on the information icons for additional details about these privacy options.
Select the anonymous giving option if you do not want your identity shared with the nonprofit you support.
Can I use an IRA gift to fund my Every.org account balance?
Yes, an IRA gift can be used to fund your account balance with giving credit. If you plan to make many donations, such as those supporting many organizations, it can be more efficient to fund your account with one large donation from your IRA, and then complete your gifts from your account balance from there.
How does the nonprofit receive my donation?
Every.org is the legal charitable recipient of your gift, and the recipient nonprofit does not need to receive or process the IRA check itself.
After Every.org receives and processes the funds, we issue an unrestricted grant to the nonprofit per our regular disbursement schedule, which can range from 1-6 weeks depending on the disbursement method.
What should I do if I need help?
