Every.org can be treated as a US 501(c)(3) public charity as described under IRC Sections 509(a)(2) and 170(b)(1)(A)(vi).
We use a donor-advised fund (DAF) structure to serve as an intermediary for donation purposes. As the legal recipient of donations, tax deductions come from Every.org and we handle the conversion of asset donations to cash for nonprofits. Our mission expands beyond distributing funds, and we don't hold investments for individuals.
Some outdated databases may think we are a private foundation, because we initially formed as a private foundation but are now in our advance ruling period as a public charity. Please see our letter from the IRS dated Jan 17, 2025 confirming that donors can deduct contributions they make to us as provided in IRC Section 170. You can also verify our public charity (PC) status in realtime by going to the official IRS database and searching our EIN: 61-1913297.
