If you set your activity to be public this means other people will be able to see which nonprofits you supported, donations you’ve joined, donations you liked, and comments you provide for why you donated to various nonprofits. If you set it to be private, people will not be able to see this information unless they request to follow you first. Amount of any individual donation is kept private from all users since we want to focus on the act of giving versus the amount given.
